The Challenge

Bluevine is a leading financial technology platform built specifically for small business owners — offering business checking accounts, lines of credit, and bill pay tools designed to give entrepreneurs the financial infrastructure they need to grow.

Bluevine is a leading financial technology platform built specifically for small business owners — offering business checking accounts, lines of credit, and bill pay tools designed to give entrepreneurs the financial infrastructure they need to grow. With a customer base spanning hundreds of thousands of small business owners across the country, Bluevine's website and mobile app are mission-critical tools that customers depend on to manage their businesses every day.

As ADA Title III litigation targeting financial technology companies continued to rise, Bluevine's team recognized that their digital products needed to be evaluated and remediated — not just for legal protection, but because a small business owner with a disability who cannot fully use their banking platform is a customer being failed at a fundamental level.

The complexity of financial product interfaces — with account dashboards, credit application flows, transaction histories, and bill pay tools — made accessibility remediation technically demanding. Bluevine needed a partner with both the accessibility expertise and the financial services product knowledge to get it right.

The Inclusive Web Solution

Inclusive Web conducted a comprehensive human-led WCAG 2.1 AA audit of Bluevine's public marketing website and mobile banking app, with particular attention to the flows most critical to small business customers — account onboarding, credit applications, dashboard navigation, transaction management, and bill pay.

Our team developed prioritized remediation guidance tailored to the technical architecture of both the web and native mobile environments, and remained engaged through the fix process — verifying every resolved issue before sign-off. No issue was considered closed until we confirmed it worked for real users relying on assistive technologies.

  • Human-led WCAG 2.1 AA audit of the Bluevine public website, including product pages, onboarding flows, and support content

  • Mobile banking app audit across iOS and Android, evaluating account management, credit application, transaction history, and bill pay

  • Accessibility review of complex financial UI components — data tables, form-heavy application flows, and real-time dashboard elements

  • Prioritized remediation roadmap aligned to ADA legal risk and customer impact

  • Developer-ready guidance for both web and native mobile environments

  • Fix verification — every resolved issue confirmed working before closure

  • Real-user testing with testers who identify as disabled, validating the small business banking experience across screen readers, keyboard navigation, and voice control

  • Ongoing accessibility monitoring to maintain compliance as Bluevine adds new products and features

Real-User Accessibility Testing — In Financial Services, the Stakes Are Higher

Inclusive Web validated Bluevine's website and mobile app with testers who identify as disabled and rely on assistive technologies daily — including screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and voice control. In financial services, accessibility isn't just about usability — it's about ensuring every customer can manage their money, access their accounts, and make informed financial decisions with full independence.

The Result

WCAG 2.1 AA compliance achieved across both the Bluevine website and mobile banking app

Complex financial UI components — including account dashboards, credit application forms, and transaction tables — made fully accessible

The complete small business banking experience accessible to customers relying on assistive technologies

ADA Title III legal exposure substantially reduced

Real-user testing confirmed that small business owners with disabilities can manage their accounts, apply for credit, and pay bills with full independence

Ongoing monitoring program in place to protect compliance as Bluevine scales its product suite

"Small business owners with disabilities deserve the same access to financial tools as everyone else. Inclusive Web helped us deliver on that — across both our website and our app, with real users confirming it works."
