The Challenge
Slim Chickens is a rapidly expanding fast casual brand with a loyal following built around fresh, hand-breaded chicken tenders and a made-to-order menu that gives guests real choice in every visit.
Slim Chickens is a rapidly expanding fast casual brand with a loyal following built around fresh, hand-breaded chicken tenders and a made-to-order menu that gives guests real choice in every visit. With online ordering now central to how Slim Chickens serves its guests — and with a franchised footprint growing across the US and internationally — the accessibility of the brand's digital ordering experience had become both a compliance priority and a brand imperative.
As ADA Title III enforcement in the restaurant sector accelerated, and as Slim Chickens' digital team evaluated their website and ordering platform, it became clear that customers relying on assistive technologies were encountering real barriers — in the menu, in the customization flow, and in the checkout process. For a brand that prides itself on giving every guest exactly what they want, an inaccessible ordering experience was a direct contradiction of that promise.
Slim Chickens needed a partner who could audit both the brand website and the online ordering flow thoroughly, remediate every barrier completely, and validate the result with real users — ensuring that every guest who wants to order online can do so without friction.
The Inclusive Web Solution
Inclusive Web conducted a comprehensive human-led WCAG 2.1 AA audit of the Slim Chickens website and online ordering platform, evaluating every customer-facing flow from menu discovery through order customization, location selection, and checkout completion.
Our team developed a prioritized remediation roadmap focused on the ordering flow as the highest-priority customer experience and legal risk area, providing developer-ready guidance that Slim Chickens' digital team could implement efficiently. Every fix was verified before sign-off, and the final experience was validated by real users who rely on assistive technologies.
Human-led WCAG 2.1 AA audit of the full Slim Chickens website and online ordering platform
Menu browsing, sauce selection, meal customization, combo building, and checkout all evaluated end-to-end
Accessibility review of ordering-specific components — customization flows, dipping sauce selectors, combo modals, and cart management
Location finder, hours, and franchise information accessibility review
Prioritized remediation roadmap by customer impact and ADA legal risk
Developer-ready guidance tailored to the ordering platform's technical architecture
Fix verification — no issue closed without real-world confirmation it works
Real-user testing with testers who identify as disabled, confirming the full ordering experience using screen readers, keyboard navigation, and voice control
Ongoing monitoring to maintain compliance as the menu and ordering platform evolve across the growing franchise system
Real-User Accessibility Testing — Validated Before the First Guest Arrives
Inclusive Web tested the Slim Chickens website and ordering flow with testers who identify as disabled and rely on assistive technologies daily — including screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and voice control. For a fast casual brand with a highly customizable menu, this means confirming that a customer with a disability can navigate the full made-to-order experience — every sauce, every combo, every checkout step — with complete independence.
